4,507 players rated. 810 carry a recorded World Cup appearance, from the 2023 and 2019 squads. Squad strength does not feed the match predictions.
Only players their country can still pick are selected. That is read from the years on the national-team row of each player's Wikipedia article — an open span means available, a closed one means their Test career is over. A player with no article the check could resolve stays selectable, so the squads of unions whose players are not documented still carry retired names. The check could be run on 1,363 of the 4,741 players on file, and ruled out 234.
Club, caps and age describe each player as at August 20, 2026. Read from Wikipedia and refreshed weekly, so a transfer announced since is not yet reflected. A cap count shown as ≥n was counted from the matchday squads on record rather than read from a profile, and is a floor.
